As the Year Closes, Building Toward the Final Shoot

As the year closes, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on where the work stands and where it is headed.

Alongside ongoing progress on the feature film Emergence 2028, I recently launched a new audio series called Darkwards Drifter. The series exists within the same world as the film, but it approaches that world from a more focused, ground-level perspective.

Emergence 2028: Darkwards Drifter

Darkwards Drifter follows a lone operator navigating debt, broken systems, and districts the city no longer claims. It is a narrative audio series built around atmosphere, character, and forward motion rather than exposition. The format has allowed me to explore corners of the setting that do not always fit within a feature-length structure.

The series is released on Patreon. There is a free version available, along with supporter tiers that offer early access and additional material. You can find it here:

Creating these episodes has become an important part of my routine. Writing for audio has opened up a different way of working inside this world, and it is something I see continuing over time.

At the same time, the feature film continues moving toward its final stage. Over the past year, we filmed additional material, added new cast members, and lined everything up for the final shoot this winter. In January, I will be appearing on some podcasts to talk primarily about the film and where that last phase is headed.

Darkwards Drifter is not a side project. It runs alongside the film as part of the same larger body of work, each informing the other as the story moves forward.

More soon.

Ian
